Still life or nature morte paintings have a long tradition in human history and you can already find them in Egyptian tombs, and very impressive in their photo a like style from the Dutch painters. We have always been fascinated by natures beauty and tried to bring parts of it in to our houses to look at it and keep it.

It is curiosity, that makes me sit down and study plants, fruits, trees and animals. To study is to understand. Understanding gives me a kind of astonishment kick and opens up for a deeper admiration of the World arround me. as if the varity of creation also reassures me of the power of life.

the objects in a still life are fascinating because they tell stories. Stories of how they where made, by who they have been owned. It seems to me, that they built up relations between themselves as a reflection of periods of time. We all know that certain view on a cupboard or a shelf, that we used to look at as kids or as grown up. And even though things are not breathing as plants, fruits and animals do, they can break and get lost and change owner and meaning for us….I like to collect the stories, that still life create, while I work with it.
